Cleaning Thermoplastic Doors

Use a gentle solution of mild dish soap and water for easy cleaning. To ensure thermoplastic doors retain their pristine appearance over time, follow these care instructions:

1. Avoid Harsh Chemicals
Do not use aggressive substances like bleach, paint thinners, or cleaners with solvents or abrasive particles. Specifically, steer clear of products containing toluene or acetone, as these will damage the protective acrylic layer, leading to discoloration when exposed to UV light.
2. Protect from High Heat
Prevent exposure to excessive heat to maintain the integrity of thermoplastic doors and drawers:
• When using an oven’s broiler with the door open, open nearby thermoplastic cabinet doors and drawers to reduce heat exposure.
• During an oven’s self-cleaning cycle, which may release significant heat due to door seal design, open or remove nearby thermoplastic doors and drawers as a precaution.
• Ensure countertop appliances like toasters, toaster ovens, or kettles that generate high heat are not placed directly beneath overhead thermoplastic cabinets during operation.
3. Handle with Care
Avoid striking thermoplastic surfaces with sharp or hard objects, which may cause cuts or dents. For minor surface scratches due to mishandling, consider these repair options:
• Apply a carnauba-based wax to buff the affected area.
• Use a fine-grade polishing compound to gently rub out the scratch.
• Explore touch-up repair kits available from specialty paint suppliers for more extensive damage.
